My new tree!!

My tree at Carbon grove

I was playing around when I stumbled upon this amazing webbie on planting your virtual tree! I went ahead and took a note for myself; and here’s what I shall do:
I shall take public transport to work a few times a week, so I may save fuel, as well as reduce what amount of pollution my car gave off when I use it. I also am looking into car pooling so that I can save even more $$, and reduce my expenses and provide transport for people who are around my area!
Why not give this a try, my dear readers??

"We all went to Shilin night-life market for dinner, and I swear I was totally overloaded with food! Then James suggested we go for a little "skinny" dipping at the spa, and that’s where he introduced Jerry to us! It was a first experience at a public Spa facilities, and it was unforgetful! (in Chinese that would be either to 泡温泉 或是/or 泡汤). We also went to Yangmin Mountain (if I spelled that correctly; if any of you is reading this, correct me where necessary) That is where I had the bitterness of lossing my camera (it is a lovely Sony T-20), and I mourn more for the lose of the fond memories rather than the lose of the camera! If anyone ever picked it, would be really nice to return me the photographs! You may keep the camer if you want to. That last night spent with James was back to DanShui old streets, where we eat again, and simply stroll in the beautiful night scenery! It has been so tiring for James, I really felt very bad, and I urged him to come with his friends to Singapore so that I can return the same hospitality bestowed on me by them! 健翔!你和你朋友们或是家人都好,一定要来新加坡玩哦!!你答应过的!!

Let’s the memories flow…

I was feeling a need to update my Ipod now, so I was browsing through my huge collection of CDs and suddenly I just feel like playing CATS!
Well, literally I did play with the neighbourhood black family kitties, and that’s what pushed me to upload the whole collection in! Among the lot, are a few choice which I find really sooths the mood, and one of my favourite singers ever: Elaine Paige!! Just love her to bits!! Here’s the lyrics of one of her many wonderful songs: Memory when she was cast as Grizabella in CATS! I really hope readers can appriciate the soul and emotions spent in this song. It made me so chocked up with emotions and tears to my eyes. Enjoy!

Memory
by Elaine Paige

Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Every streetlamp
Seems to beat a fatalistic warning
Someone mutters
And the streetlamp gutters
And soon it will be morning

Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I musn’t give in
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale cold smell of morning
The streetlamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning

Touch me
It’s so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me
You’ll understand what happiness is

Look
A new day has begun

The grief fills the air around Asia

Just when the world is anticipating the arrival of the Olympics, a deathly quake hits the WenChuan County of SiChuan, a province in the People’s Republic of China. Measuring at a calculated magnitude of 7.9, it has caused devestation among the poeple of China. I was shocked to hear about the quake as well as fearful for the safety of my good friend’s family, who are local SiChuan residents.
I immediately leave an sms to my friend asking her about her family. They have been really wonderful hosts when I was in China, inviting me into their home, and experiencing their way of life; it is something I can never forget. Thank the stars, they were alright, just the cost of damage to their house is going to be extensive. Her sister, whom I shared a lot of time together with, watching cartoons together, was also lucky that she was on her way to school on that fateful day.
It was only after I got confirmation from my friend that they were all alright, that I heave a sigh of relief!
Now all I can do is to donate to help them rebuild their lives. I really hope the Singapore government will help more by sending medicine to help the injured. If given the same chance to go there to help in the rescue mission, I’d gladly do it without a second thought! I will do all I can to help calm the anxious; to grief together with the griefing; to warm the weary hearts with simple, but healthy meals and to celebrate the joy of another life being rescued.
If only….But it is least possible for us normal civilians to volunteer ourselves.

Sighhh….till another time

A bitter-sweet adventure to Taipei (more sweet then bitter though)

Phew!! Just came back from Taipei at a landing time of 22:45 (GMT+8), on the 19th May, 2008. I left on the 17th of May, 2008, catching an afternoon flight bound for Taipei (台北)。But way before that, I told a very good friend of mine from Taipei about my impeding arrival. We had known each other while I was on a job posting a few years back (not too long ago anyway). James is an amazing fellow, full of knowledge and crappy jokes, but I love the hanging outs, chit-chatting all the while, exchanging culture, ideas and interesting things with each other. Now the circle of friends have just broadened! I introduced to him another 2 of my lovely friends and we all have fun hanging out the last 2 days around the popular spots, together with James’s buddy, Jerry! (Thinking back now, if they opened a store together selling any particular self-branded products or now, they can name their store JJ’s or J&J’s!! 好主意对吧 Sunshine? *wink*)

It was really very very sweet of James to even go pick us up at the airport! He went all the way to borrow his company’s vehicle to take us around, and for that, I am really really touched and grateful to him! Love you for that, Sunshine! Wink

We all went to Shilin night-life market for dinner, and I swear I was totally overloaded with food! Then James suggested we go for a little "skinny" dipping at the spa, and that’s where he introduced Jerry to us! It was a first experience for me at a public Spa facility, and it was unforgetful! (in Chinese that would be either to 泡温泉 或是/or 泡汤, from what I understood it to be). You may keep the camera if you want to.

The last day was spent with Amanda’s family friend and his wife for a trip to Yilan fir a nice beautiful coastal tour and a taste of Fresh Seafood! Another "Paiseh" situation where they paid for the meal! but it’s also really sweet and generous of them to bring us around, and astound us with the wonderful history! I also wish they would come Singapore to play too! 你们也一定要来新加坡玩哦!要来哦!!

Finally, it all boils down to the priceless experiences and friendships shared, that will be etched in my heart and mind, for light years to come.

I am sorry to say to my readers, that I was unable to upload any pictures from this trip, or any recent months images pior to the sudden Death of my dear camera. But I will try my very best to make up for it! and hopefully by next week, I will have it updated. I hope James will be so kind to send me what pictures he took from the trip with us so I can least put up some to share!
Well, my bed is calling to me! Till another time, readers!
